Hip Pain with Dr. Geoffrey Van Flandern Boston MA

Hip Pain

Hip pain can be caused by many different processes.

Here I have detailed and few of the most common causes and their symptoms. Trochanteric bursitis: Classically pain to the outer hip –  pain with laying on the hip  –  or when seated in a deep chair or bucket seat of the car. Hip Flexor tendonitis: Pain to the groin. Pain with lifting the leg  –  active lifting motions to the leg. Referred pain from the lumbar spine: Most commonly pain to the lowest low back or buttock. Can cause pain down the leg to the back of the knee or even the foot. Hip arthritis: Pain from the loss of the cartilages in the hip  – typically groin pain, loss of motion of the hip and loss of endurance
